I didn't get photographed very much and certainly not during the sleds or the running/burpee, but I did get some barbell pictures, including a few of me going "Uhh? What's going on?"
The (mis)adventures and thoughts of an aspiring master archer, lifter, and fantasy author who happens to be irresistibly drawn towards wolves, raptors, and parrots. They may say there's no such thing as Paradise or Perfection, yet I'm still searching for them. Why do I keep searching? A voice speaks to me and says: "Search for Paradise and aspire for Perfection"...

Down for Donuts 2019 2/n
These are photos courtesy of CK Johnson of CKJPhotos13.
Our bold Alpha wolf, T. Dreaver, my weightlifting instructor, and his daughter, who is endowed with an extra chromosome 21 in a condition known as Down Syndrome.
Fellow teacher H. Freeman in her tie-break event: 2/3 Isabel, which consists of 20x85 lb snatches, any flavor. She ended up taking second place after a long, wearying battle.
Power clean at 110 lbs. My stance was a bit wide, but that's how I get below the bar on a power clean of any sort. Elbows were also slightly slow, but I still made all three positions of the clean.
This was at the top of my opening weight of 95 lbs. I deliberately picked a weight that I knew I was NOT going to miss despite being beat up, but then again, typically most people recommend opening with around 80% of the 1RM give or take a bit based on the scenario.
I don't like hanging anything, although hanging knee raises are probably the least of my evils. I'm surprised I even made it to the hanging knee raises. After doing 19.5, my hands were *fried*. I missed finishing the thrusters and hanging knee raise WOD by only maybe 8 reps or so, but I didn't vomit, even if I came close. My buddy T. Harris did offer to bring a trash can in case I did hurl, but I made it. Judge T. Mohan was thankful that I didn't hurl either!
What can I say? I did not really need more thrusters after 19.5, especially at 85 lbs, which also got to be a new personal best for me because the last time I did that weight, my thrusters were more like a sloppy clean & jerk. This time, despite them being slow singles, I actually used proper (albeit ugly) form.

After exiting the split stance on my final lift, a 110 lb three-position clean (high hang, below knee hang, and floor) and jerk. In retrospect, I probably could have pulled off the 115-120 lb complex, but a no-rep would have been too costly in the 30 second time-frame.

Down for Donuts 2019 1/n
I actually got to compete in Down for Donuts to support Gigi's Playhouse in Gainesville, FL, which supports Down Syndrome.
