Adventures at East River Archery

I made it to the quarterfinals at the blind double elimination match at East River Archery. It was a pretty brutal path, especially with me being unable to see what I was doing much of the time.  Every match was a long one full of drama as it took me a while to get sighted back in under swirling winds, but I held my own. I was very pleased to have gone as far as I did, especially in light of some of the fiercest competitors in the state!

Olympic Weightlifting Progress

This week has been a fairly light week, although volume has been rather high!

In-House Lifting Meet

Although I DID get credit for all 6 lifts, I knew deep inside it was actually a 4/6 based on how my elbows felt and reviewing the footage, where I pressed out on the lifts.  That being said, I think the final clean & jerk could have been a split decision, while the final snatch was a unanimous decision.

First were the snatches... 30, 32, and 35 kg.

And then there were the clean & jerks... 38, 41, and 44 kg.

Sunshine State Games 2021

It was definitely a tough weekend, but very worthwhile for me as Anduril and I faced some of the toughest odds. I got to face A. Zuleta-Wisser, a young athlete who just barely missed the cut for the US Olympic archery team, as well as a handful of other athletes who have a good handful of national events under their belts.

First there was the 720 round on Saturday. It was a bit rough with the winds and testing to see whether or not some repairs were going to hold up.  They did.

And then there was the American 900 round, which went far better after getting some very subtle corrections from my friend and coach, T. Muntyan.

Belated Murph Pictures et al

All of these pictures are courtesy of I. Ramirez at CrossFit Iron Legion. These were from Murph on Memoridal Day.

And then there were a few from testing last night...

And then there was some calibration work for Sunshine State Games American 900 round...

Below: Best end at 40 yards (aka awkwardly close)

Best end at 60 yards (still pretty close) but in nightmarish wind conditions.

Spider Cup 720 Round and Long Hammock

So I shot the Spider Cup 720 yesterday. It wasn't a particularly strong scoring day, but I think there were at least five of us who couldn't stop laughing.

Team C^3 ready to kill in the team match! And our announcer read it correctly as well. Thank goodness for the shoot director having his MS degree in Electrical Engineering! We soundly defeated our opponents, the Foo Fighters.

And then there was the unexpected trip to Long Hammock, now relocated to Bushnell.  I attempted to shoot Anduril, but too many parts came loose despite repair efforts, and it turned into an exercise of futility, so I had to switch to Xibalba.
