Simulated Viking Raid

Not quite as spectacular as Fenrir's Mayhem but at least I rowed the Viking galley 5 km before conducting the raid, which was mostly me getting knocked over on my back and crunching back up (aka core workout)...

And of course, the gratuitous 20 yd grouping that went really well. I was shooting pretty well on the field range up until I saw hogs. Lots of hogs. Then I just couldn't quite focus on my shot, as I really prefer NOT to get ambushed by hogs, especially if they have orc-like tusks and attitudes!

More Compound Fun

I'm still a recurve / longbow person but the compound make for a great training tool as well as a method of self-entertainment.

There's the targets from 10-50 meters away.
The 40 meter bear target. Apparently I do have some skill with the compound!

Someone taught me compound extremely well! This was 18 meters away. I think it's time for the 3 spot target!
I destroyed another arrow today with some amazing precision now that I know how to properly use a hinge release.

Compound Fun With Updated Form

Apparently I've been misusing my releases and someone decided to intervene to correct me...

Ultimately I ended up shooting a hinge release, which is the one in this video. I guess I do have a lot of back tension even when ultra-sore from WODs of Doom (tm) and my back isn't handling 0% let-off!

Random Compound Selfie Fun

After Monday's back/shoulder destruction day that included 100 assisted Pull-ups of Doom, rowing, deadlifts, overhead presses (including a 70# PR), and much more with drop sets and burnout sets, I knew I was in NO condition to shoot my usual style based on my attempts at low poundage SPT. I did the next best thing, which was to use the compound, which gives me a lot of let-off and allows me to focus on aiming and follow through.

Training for Field

It was a relatively bug-free day courtesy of the recent freeze so I got to spend some time training for field, which I realized was a lot tougher than I thought because I can *barely* see the pin on my sight against the target. Today I focused on cleaning up my form and calibrating my 20 and 25 yard marks. I didn't get too much further because the mosquitoes decided to come for me once the sun started shining. I did get a gratuitous picture of me exploring a potential next frontier too. Can you guess what style it might be?
