The (mis)adventures and thoughts of an aspiring master archer, lifter, and fantasy author who happens to be irresistibly drawn towards wolves, raptors, and parrots. They may say there's no such thing as Paradise or Perfection, yet I'm still searching for them. Why do I keep searching? A voice speaks to me and says: "Search for Paradise and aspire for Perfection"...
I decided I needed a little barbell action after three days of no lifting, so I worked on the lifts that I knew would actually help my archery parts feel better after a *brutal* FITA field round this past weekend.
First there were the clean and jerks... 41 kg double.
This was a 43 kg single.
This was a failed 45 kg single - clean was good, but my jerk had a significant press-out. It would have passed in CrossFit most likely, but definitely gotten the red lights in Olympic weightlifting! That being said, I'm still pretty happy knowing I was able to almost get it at the level of fatigue I was at!
And then there was the 69 kg back squat. My depth was a bit sketchy, but I think I did hit parallel, which is the minimum standard for an actual squat.
The FL Archery FITA Field 2021 is in the books, complete with me taking a third place finish after two grueling days of 24 targets, 3 arrows each. I want to give a few shout-outs including to T. Muntyan for teaching me a more powerful way of shooting and getting me hooked on recurve, B. Stratton for helping me with minor nuts and bolts of daily shooting that I might otherwise not be able to figure out or realize, and D. Marrero and A. Johnson for helping me hack my brain even further to optimize my performance and focus, even under pressure or awkward/difficult conditions.
