Anduril has gotten to be quite the handful to shoot with the challenges of string-walking, but it is paying off!
The (mis)adventures and thoughts of an aspiring master archer, lifter, and fantasy author who happens to be irresistibly drawn towards wolves, raptors, and parrots. They may say there's no such thing as Paradise or Perfection, yet I'm still searching for them. Why do I keep searching? A voice speaks to me and says: "Search for Paradise and aspire for Perfection"...

Calibrating 70 Meters as a Barebow Recurve Part 1 Plus Gratuitous Fun
Last night, we had a lot of fun in weightlifting with Coach V. I still can't go into a full snatch courtesy of my little running mishap, but depth is slowly returning! The two of us are probably Coach V's most dedicated students, even if Olympic weightlifting is my secondary sport, while my buddy is switching over to full-blown Olympic weightlifting.

Calibrating Anduril for String-Walking
Success at 60 meters...
\
And then there's training at Gator Bowmen trying to get my distances calibrated for field / international. Below is basic calibration at 40 yards.
17 yard hunter target.
23-20 yard step-up target
44 yards. At this point, my binoculars got to be pretty useless, so I just held at my best interpolation and used auditory cues.
Bunny targets at 11 yards. I really don't like them too much...

USA Archery Bronze Medal and Lifting Successes
First things first... I am regaining progress in my lifting! Although I am still unable to squat properly or have full range of motion, I can still jerk. I haven't moved THAT much weight in quite some time, after having had Coach J have me focus much more on form for a VERY long time. Coach V now has me getting much more aggressive while projecting an aura of calmness. I still miss Coach J majorly, but he also had a very strong tendency to remind me of a piano teacher I had growing up, and that isn't always good for heavy, explosive, violent lifts.
And then the main body of USA Archery sent me this little thing here for my third place finish back in January. I already received the medal from the traditional branch, but now I have the officially official medal from the US Olympic body.

NFAA 300 Round Baseline
I shot a 60 arrow NFAA round yesterday. It went surprisingly well even consider I had some of the most distracting conditions surrounding me.
I also got some pretty good snatch development work in this morning.

Archery, Lots of Archery!
So this arrived... This was from back in March at the NFAA Southeast Indoor Sectionals, right before the Covid-19 explosion. It may be a while before I do much of anything competitive as a longbow with either Undomiel or Xibalba, but now, it's time for me to focus on Anduril and make the Flame of the West shine brighter!

National Donut Day DT
Today is National Donut Day apparently, and we did a WOD scheduled originally for Down for Donuts. I did scaled/modified DT, which was 65 lbs for me to ensure I maintained solid form throughout and stayed safe.
And here's the 8am class this morning, complete with donuts and an adorable dog who seems to kiss me every time I see him!
